Preconference Workshop on June 19 by Harold Bok at the VEC conference in Calgary

At the  VEC 2016 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada | June 20 - 21, 2016, Harold Bok gave a Preconference Workshop on behalf of WATCHME. During the presentation the WATCHME-Project was mentioned as an example of new developments concerning EPAs, programmatic assessment and portfolios. Abstract Details: Programmatic assessment in veterinary medical education: integrating learning and assessment In recent years, health professional curricula have evolved to incorporate programmatic approaches to assessment in order to enhance students’ learning towards predefined outcomes. Building on best practices and educational theory, development, delivery and evaluation of these programs of assessment focus on improving the validity and reliability of the methods used AND enhancing and facilitating student learning. In this model, assessment and learning are intertwined by making each individual assessment maximally informative for learning. Even though this theoretical model for programmatic assessment has been embraced by educators, its feasibility and value at curriculum level has not yet been studied extensively. In this workshop participants will learn about the ins-and-outs of programmatic assessment. The competency-based assessment program at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Utrecht University, The Netherlands, will be used as an illustration of the model. The workshop will be highly interactive, requiring participants to use the evidence and translate it to their assessment practices.
