Äli Leijen, Pihel Hunt, Gerli Slim, Liina Malva 5th– 6th February 2016 A joint seminar between the teacher education and the educational technology research groups of the University of Tartu Tartu, Estonia Äli Leijen, Pihel Hunt, Gerli Silm and Liina Malva participated in a joint seminar between the teacher education and the educational technology research groups of the University of Tartu. The WP6 gave an overview of the WatchMe project and introduced the EPASS system.
Bert Slof & Natalia Cabai 28th October 2015 Visualizing feedback to users: examples and feedback session Educational Science students (48) critically reviewed three static visualization representing the feedback on the epa and pitched their results. Thereafter Natalia asked the students to compare the static visualizations to dynamic ones. These exercises were aimed to prepare students for their future job as educational consult since it gained them insight into new developments in the field (e.g., LA) and improved their consultancy skills (e.g., analyzing the design problem, proving an advice and pitching their solution to the involved stakeholders). In addition it provided valuable feedback for the future development of the visualization module for the teacher track.
Bert Slof & Marieke van der schaaf 8th September 2015 ICO master class about Learning Analytics Giving a master class to PhD students about Learning Analytics. The Watchme project was one of the examples used to discuss the strengths, weaknesses, threats and opportunities of LA-enhanced systems.
Marieke van der schaaf 30th November 2015 Holding a presentation in a mini–conference called „Professional Development“ at Gent University Gent, Belgium The conference was designed for PHD students who are training professionals (teachers, health professionals) through continuous professional development (CPD). As a guest lecture on successful CPD, Marieke van der schaaf held a presentation titled “Theories and methodologies for teacher expertise, professional development and student assessment”.
Bert Slof & Marieke van der schaaf & Martijn Holthuijsen 25th November 2015 Web lecture about the strengths, weaknesses, threats and opportunities of LA-enhanced systems For the new master course Education Design and Consultancy (Educational Sciences, UU, 160 students) several web lectures were developed. One of them is about Learning Analytics and three LA-enhanced project (one of them is WatchMe) will be discussed with the aim to provide the students a state of the art view of the developments in this field.
